Transcranial magnetic stimulation combined with specific acupuncture to promote awakening and motor function reconstruction (rTMS-Acupuncture Neuromodulation)
High-precision focused transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) is used to generate millisecond-level strong magnetic fields that penetrate the skull to non-invasively stimulate specific functional areas of the cerebral cortex. Combined with the dual excitatory effects of acupuncture on the ascending reticular activating system (ARAS), it promotes synaptic remodeling of dormant neurons and activation of local brain metabolism. It has become a cutting-edge rehabilitation tool for consciousness disorders (coma/vegetative state) and refractory limb hemiplegia after severe craniocerebral trauma or cardiac arrest.

Mechanism of Action and Technical Advantages
Transcranial magnetic stimulation combined with specific acupuncture to promote awakening and motor function reconstruction core technical principles and clinical pathways
1Deep brain network penetration activation: rTMS high-intensity focused magnetic field penetrates the skull without attenuation, directly reaches the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC) and motor supplementary area, quickly inducing brain wave rhythm synchronization
2Chinese and Western dual-track synergy: combined with strong stimulation of Shuigou and Shixuan points to induce reticular ascending impulses in the brainstem, and two-way closed-loop bombardment of 'central magnetic field + peripheral nerve reflex', the effectiveness of promoting awakening is increased by more than 35
3Comprehensive medical charges: The entire package price of high-tech combination therapy at China National Neurological Center is only ¥15,000 - ¥28,000 (approximately $2,100 - $4,000)
Precise target audience and clinical indications
Quantitative self-assessment entry points for overseas patients, clarifying treatment benefit standards at each stage
Long-term disturbance of consciousness after brain trauma or cardiac arrest and hypoxia (vegetative state VS / minimally conscious state MCS), unilateral spatial neglect after severe stroke, Parkinson's disease bradykinesia and refractory neuropathic pain
Patients who have been in coma for more than 28 days after severe brain injury, with stable vital signs but unresponsiveness; patients with normal intracranial pressure but blocked electrophysiological conduction of the cortical network; patients with severe loss of fine movements of the upper limbs after stroke
Strict Exclusion Criteria and Contraindications
- ✕Patients with metal foreign bodies, edges of titanium alloy mesh or cardiac implantable pacemakers in the skull; patients with intractable and frequent uncontrolled grand mal epilepsy; severe intracranial hypertension in the early stage of brain herniation

Real-world typical cases and treatment outcomes
Objective efficacy and long-term follow-up records for patients with complex and severe cardiac major vessels undergoing this protocol
Baseline patient profile
A 35-year-old male patient was in a prolonged coma for 45 days after undergoing craniotomy for hematoma removal due to severe craniocerebral trauma. He was unresponsive, had no verbal response, and had no independent eating. His Coma Recovery Scale (CRS-R) score was only 5 points, and he was diagnosed with minimally conscious state after severe craniocerebral trauma (MCS-).
Significant clinical remission and functional reconstruction
Previous treatment history and treatment challenges:The patient is young and his family members are unwilling to give up treatment. However, there is no response to conventional neurotrophic drugs and passive massage treatment for 1 month, and he faces the risk of long-term vegetative survival and death from lung infection.
Specific implementation path of this plan:After consultation between Tiantan Hospital and the Tsinghua Yuquan team, the fMRI navigation system was used to accurately target the left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC), and 20 Hz high-frequency rTMS stimulation was performed (1 times a day, each time 1500 pulses), and use Shi's filiform needles to deeply prick Renzhong, Baihui and Yongquan points during treatment.
Objective efficacy and outcome records:On the 12th day of treatment, the paroxysmal broad slow waves in the electroencephalogram were significantly reduced, and the patient's eyeballs were able to rotate more than 45 degrees horizontally for the first time. On the 21st day, the patient was able to close his eyes and open his mouth in accordance with the doctor's instructions, and could slightly pinch the fingers of his family members with his left hand. The CRS-R score soared to 16 points, and he was successfully transferred out of the minimally conscious state and transferred to the verbal cognitive active remodeling ward.
Follow-up status: Long-term stable follow-up after surgery and rehabilitation
