Hyperbaric oxygen brain neurometabolic recovery program (HBOT: breaking the vicious cycle of neuroischemia, hypoxia and cerebral edema)

Using a high-standard large-scale medical air pressurization chamber, in a pure oxygen environment of 2.0-2.5 atmospheres (ATA), by increasing plasma physical dissolved oxygen and brain tissue oxygen partial pressure dozens of times, it breaks the vicious cycle of microvascular spasm, blood-brain barrier permeability damage and mitochondrial energy failure after cerebral ischemia-reperfusion, and provides a powerful source of cell energy recovery for craniocerebral injury, hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE) and central nervous system damage.

Mechanism of Action and Technical Advantages

Hyperbaric oxygen brain neurometabolism recovery program core technical principles and clinical pathways

1

Blood oxygen diffusion capacity and tissue oxygen supply: in 2.0 Under ATA high pressure, the physically dissolved free pure oxygen in the blood increases 22 times. Even if no red blood cells pass through, plasma alone can fully supply brain cells in the ischemic penumbra

2

Mitochondrial ATP energy recovery and brain edema control: High-pressure oxygen promotes the recovery of nerve cell membrane endothelial Ca2+-ATPase activity, shrinks and expands cerebral blood vessels to reduce leakage, and fundamentally blocks the vicious cycle of cerebral edema

3

Single and full-course charges: China’s national public benchmark hospital’s high-standard large-scale medical oxygen chamber charging standards, 30 full-cycle standard treatments only cost ¥5,000 - ¥12,000 (approximately $700 - $1,700)

Precise target audience and clinical indications

Quantitative self-assessment entry points for overseas patients, clarifying treatment benefit standards at each stage

Delayed encephalopathy with acute carbon monoxide poisoning encephalopathy (DEACMP), neurological dysfunction after craniocerebral trauma, brain resuscitation after cardiopulmonary resuscitation, sudden deafness and refractory chronic non-healing wounds

Patients with craniocerebral trauma and cerebral hemorrhage in the absorption phase who are in the early recovery stage of central nervous system injury (within 3 months of onset); patients who are unconscious after cardiopulmonary resuscitation; patients with acute sudden neurological deafness within 2 weeks of onset

Strict Exclusion Criteria and Contraindications

  • ✕Untreated pneumothorax or huge bullae without closed chest drainage (the high-pressure decompression process can cause tension pneumothorax); patients with extremely high blood pressure and frequent massive hemoptysis; patients with severe suppurative otitis media with complete eustachian tube occlusion

Real-world typical cases and treatment outcomes

Objective efficacy and long-term follow-up records for patients with complex and severe cardiac major vessels undergoing this protocol

Baseline patient profile

A 42-year-old man suffered from severe acute carbon monoxide poisoning due to an indoor gas water heater leak in winter. He was sent to the hospital for rescue after being comatose for 12 hours. Two weeks after being revived and discharged from the hospital, he suddenly developed extremely unresponsiveness, sluggish expression and dementia, rigidity of both lower limbs and inability to walk, and incontinence of urine and feces. Brain MRI showed large symmetrical necrosis and softening lesions in the globus pallidus on both sides, and he was diagnosed as 'delayed encephalopathy due to carbon monoxide poisoning (DEACMP)'.

Significant clinical remission and functional reconstruction

Previous treatment history and treatment challenges:

The patient has completely lost his ability to take care of himself, and his family members have fallen into extreme panic and despair. The local hospital believes that the brain cells have undergone irreversible degeneration and necrosis that cannot be reversed.

Specific implementation path of this plan:

Emergency transfer to Beijing Chaoyang Hospital Hyperbaric Oxygen Medical Center. Use 2.2 ATA large medical cabin pure oxygen therapy, 1 times a day, 100 minutes each time, combined with Shi's Xingnao Kaiqiao acupuncture and neurotrophic traditional Chinese medicine granules for oral administration, for 30 days (a total of 3 courses of treatment).

Objective efficacy and outcome records:

At the 10th treatment, the patient's consciousness began to improve, and he could recognize his family members and speak simple words; at the 20th time, he regained independent control of his bowels and bowels, and could walk with support; at the end of the 30th treatment course, the Mental Status Examination Scale (MMSE) returned to 26 points (near normal) from 6 points at the time of admission, and his ability to live independently was fully restored. There was no recurrence after 1 year of follow-up.

Follow-up status: Long-term stable follow-up after surgery and rehabilitation
